Duo for Office 365 (O365) is now recommended for all BUMC faculty and staff, as well as required for those accessing Restricted Use or HIPAA data. Duo 2-factor authentication is the recommended method of helping to prevent unauthorized access to your email, One Drive, SharePoint, and other O365 services.

More than 8,000 organizations trust Duo to simplify access to all their Microsoft applications, including Office 365, Outlook Web App (OWA), Windows desktop, services and more. Duo Beyond has proven to be one of those rare solutions that both improves the security of our company while simultaneously being easier for our employees to use. To resolve this issue: Go to “Shared Experiences” from the Windows search bar. Make sure 'Share across devices' is set to ON.; On the Shared Experiences page, there may also be an option you can click to 'Resolve a problem with one of your accounts.' Duo for O365 only works with applications that allow for what is called Modern Authentication. You may already be using these applications. Examples are:
- Outlook/Office 2016, 2019, and 365
- Apple Mail for recent versions of iOS and macOS
- Outlook app on iOS and Android
- Microsoft Teams
- OneDrive

Older apps and devices may not be compatible, including Office 2013 or older and the Mail app on some Android devices. See a full list of approved/incompatible applications on TechWeb: http://www.bu.edu/tech/support/duo/office365/
Some apps may require removing and re-adding your account or other changes to work correctly, click the link(s) below for steps to fix.
When an app logs you into your BU account, it will open a new page or login screen to enter your BU username and password and then a second screen to complete the Duo authentication push, text, or call.
